Giorgio Chiellini, the captain of Juventus and the Italian national team, spoke about the serious injury he received at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, due to which he missed more than half a year. The 35-year-old, who is already considering ending his career, also spoke about his future.
“If I had received this trauma ten years ago, I would have lost my rest. But at the age of 35, I can say that it is merely a transitional phase because of the experience I have gained. All of this needs to be transformed into energy that will be used to restore it. Anxiety in my youth gave me a lot of strength, but now I realize that I have a happy life. ”
Recently, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici announced that Chiellini, whose contract with the club expires this summer, will extend his contract for another year.
“I will play for another year, and then I will look at how I feel. Maybe I will finish my career next summer, or I will spend another season after that. I see myself in football, probably in the position of director.
I hope I can play in the postponed European Championship. I’ll be a nanny for young talents in the Italian national team, “said Chiellini.
