The Dutch defender feels happy at Turin’s Juventus. The 21-year-old was not lucky only in the case of Sergio Ramos.

Juventus and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt believes he has been very lucky with his team-mates as he plays alongside the players he admired as a child.

“It is always interesting for a defender to take on a new challenge. The Italian league is exactly the challenge for a foreigner that I love. I always thought Serie A would be the best place for me. And I never regret that I chose Juventus. I’m really happy here.

I’m lucky because I play alongside the players I used to watch on TV as a kid, and I admired their game. The only exception is Sergio Ramos.

Bonucci is very strong when launching an attack. I talk to him about this aspect often and observe what and how he does. Chiellini brilliantly “closes” the opponent’s attackers during repulse and I learn a lot from him. I play with Van Dyke in the team.

But the most important thing is to work on your own style of play and not become a copy of someone. “We need to strive for perfection constantly,” said the 21-year-old Dutch player.

Matthijs de Ligt moved to Juventus in Turin from Ajax Amsterdam in 2019. The Dutch defender has played in 10 matches in all competitions this season.

Andrea Pirlo’s team has scored 24 points in 13 matches in the Italian championship and is ranked 6th in the tournament table.
