On the Pakistan trip, Australia’s T20 No.3 admits his best chance of making the Test XI is through injury or COVID.

Mitch Marsh understands that his best chance of making the Test XI in Pakistan will be through injury or COVID-19. He is well prepared and still hoping for “one more go” at Test cricket.

In the meanwhile, the inform Aussie has shown his commitment to helping his younger teammate Cameron Green to become a great all rounder.

Green’s development this summer in his second Test season means the 22-year-old has basically signed a long-term mortgage on the all rounder position in Australia’s Test XI. This is due to his match winning contribution in the Ashes against the English side.

Before 2021, Marsh played as all rounder for the Australian test playing side but he failed to solidify his position. Now, he’s permanent no. 3 for the Australian T20 side.

Green has shown some promising aspects in both batting and bowling departments. He used his full potential to deliver the best when his team needed him most. However, he has not been tested in the subcontinent. Only technically adept players have found success there.

Green is quick with the ball with a clocking speed of 140kph. In the Ashes, he bagged 13 wickets at an average of 15.76.

Also, he played some handy knocks – scoring 228 runs with 2 fifties – in the Ashes. Most importantly, he has shown constant and positive improvement which has helped him to get picked in the next series.

Mitchell Marsh debuted for Australia in October 2014 against Pakistan in Dubai. In baggy green, he has played 32 years and scored 1260 runs at an average of 25.20. Also, his wicket tally doesn’t seem impressive with only 42 wickets at an average touching 39.

Comparing the earlier stats gives a clear advantage to Green. Marsh states before a training session as he prepares for the Pakistan visit that “I still see there’s definitely an opportunity for me to have one more crack, probably more so as a batsman now.”

Surely, Marsh is in form short format cricketer. He is a natural ball hitter and Pakistan will be a challenge for him if by any means he gets his seat in the playing 11.
