Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan believes Man Utd was lucky not to lose more goals after dominating Citizens.

What did Ilkay Gundogan say?

The German star thinks the Red Devils rivals were lucky in Saturday’s derby, as his side could be 3-0 or 4-0 half-time ahead, that was their dominance. Silva’s hit and Bailly’s Own Goal shortly before half-time were enough to earn Man City all three points at Old Trafford. However, the score was not an accurate reflection of the game, as the Guardiola’s side was completely dominant, with a combination of bad finishing moves, good goalkeepers and bad luck preventing them from adding to their goal.

Reflecting on winning, Ilkay Gundogan said it was really fun, quite enjoyable. It was a great first half where they could have scored more goals. It could have been 3-0 or 4-0 halfway through. Their keeper made incredible savings. According to Ilkay Gundogan, the second half was about staying patient, holding the ball, holding possession, passing the ball, getting into a rhythm and not giving them any chances. Gundogan doesn’t remember having chances in the second half.

A little about the topic

Former Man City defender Lescott believes their dominance on Saturday was as impressive as the famous 6-1 win at Old Trafford ten years ago, a result that many felt was a sign of a shift in power in Manchester. What made the performance all the more impressive was that Pep chose not to make any substitutions, with Man City dominating right up to the final whistle.

Joleon Lescott on the Man City website said the loan was coming to Man City, the line-bill was not as impressive as 6-1, but the performance was equally in control. Lescott doesn’t know if Guardiola misunderstood or if it was deliberately it was a derby, you expect changes to happen before you leave, the manager usually says run your hearts and in 70 minutes he will change you, but the fact that guys could play one more extra time and still pass it, just madness.
