Chelsea head coach Tuchel has admitted that it’s unfair for him to ask 20-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi to operate on a winged one so often – but he believes the Chelsea star should push its boundaries.

What did Tuchel say about Callum Hudson-Odoi?

Anglican International picked up a rare starting appearance under the German in this weekend’s 7-0 Premier League defeat against Norwich, hitting their first half in the process. Callum Hudson-Odoi, who under Thomas Tuchel was often directed as a right winged wing, played a more advanced role against the Canary Islands. The manager acknowledged that the change in position should help challenge him.

Thomas Tuchel said he thinks he needs it. For Tuchel, he needs it. These guys who are so full of quality sometimes hear too often how good they are. But you need to prove it, show it and it’s easy for offensive guys – just go to statistics and deliver assists and goals and that’s what Callum Hudson-Odoi does and what he needs to show.

They realize that they might be a little unfair when they ask him to play too often as a right back where Callum cannot show his full potential. According to Thomas Tuchel, they are aware of this, so it is always a mixture, and at the moment they think they have found a way to push it to the limits, and this can change from week to week.

A little about the topic

With injuries to Werner and Lukaku, the Cobham alumnus – who has spent his entire career at Stamford Bridge – seized the opportunity to flash from the front. His early finish helped hold the ball against struggling canaries Farke’s, and further cemented Chelsea’s spot at the top of the Premier League summit as they look to bolster the Champions League’s success last year. Callum could still get his way back into his regular role given the length of the curbside spell in front of several other players.
