IND vs ENG Rescheduled Test: Pujara is back, Saha & Rahane given a cut

IND vs ENG: The BCCI has announced the Indian team for the home T20 series against South Africa and the final Test to be held in England on Sunday evening.

A five-match T20 series is to be played against South Africa from June 9, just after the IPL. Senior players have been rested for this home series. Because everyone will be busy preparing for the final Test to be played in England from July 1. This match is part of a five-match Test series played last year, whose last match was postponed due to Corona cases.

Rest for seniors, chance for youth

With the departure of the two-month-long IPL and Test team on June 15, players playing all formats, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, may be rested for the home series. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik and Punjab left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh have been selected for the national team for the first time.

Dinesh Karthik, who showed tremendous form in IPL, has also got a place in the team. Shikhar Dhawan, who was a strong contender for captaincy, did not even get a place in the team. Hardik Pandya has returned, but Rahul will take over the captaincy.

India’s Test Team:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav, P Krishna

Hardik Pandya gets a chance after 7 months
Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to the top under his captaincy in the IPL, has returned after seven months. He has proved his form and fitness by doing well in the tournament. He hasn’t played for India since last year’s T20 World Cup. Pandya is finally bowling regularly which was crucial to his comeback effort in the national team.

Umran and Arshdeep enter the team
The IPL continues to attract future star players and this season has also been no different. Umran has also got a chance for Sunrisers Hyderabad at his own pace and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has done well for Punjab Kings. His economy rate in the death overs was one of the best and he also showed the ability to bowl yorkers at will which is very good for the T20 format.

Trust in Venkatesh, injustice to Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi, who has been performing consistently well in the IPL, has been ignored once again. He is the highest run-scorer noncapped player in the 15th season. Deepak Hooda, who is doing well for Lucknow, has also entered. Venkatesh Iyer, who has been in poor form, has once again been trusted, who was tried in the middle order in the West Indies and Sri Lanka series.

The pair of ‘Kulcha’ returned
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav’s form was also the center of attraction this IPL, which was the reason why ‘Kulcha’ was able to make a comeback. After a long time, both will be seen playing for Team India together. Yuzvendra Chahal, playing for Rajasthan, is leading the race for the Purple Cap.

Dinesh Karthik returned after three years
Dinesh Karthik, who is playing the role of ‘finisher’ for Royal Challengers Bangalore, has got a chance after three years. DK played the last T20 for India on 27 February 2019. Now on 22 May 2022, he has been called again. After finishing several matches one after the other, the claim of this experienced wicket-keeper batsman was quite strong. By the way, Dinesh Karthik’s last ODI was on 9 July 2019 at Old Trafford.
