The third match of the series will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. Team India has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series and they will be looking to clean-sweep the Kiwis on Tuesday.
Rohit Sharma’s team India has been on a roll in the ODI format and they are on a 7-match winning streak currently and would like to make it 8 on. And with the home World Championship later this year they would look to test some players to further strengthen their bench squad.
The Kiwis on the other hand will look to end the series on a high. We expect a good contest despite the match being a dead rubber with a lot to play with an eye on the World Championship.
This match is going to be important from India’s point of view as they currently stand 2nd in the latest ODI teams rankings and if they win this 3rd encounter against the Black Caps on Tuesday they will top the ODI teams rankings.
Team India’s openers Rohit Sharma (51 runs) and Shubham Gill (37 runs) made short work of the meagre target on board against NZ in the second ODI. It will be a great test for India’s middle-order batters like Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya who will be itching to make a big score in this match as they are due for one in this series. We expect yet another good showing in this match too.
The veteran fast bowler Mohammad Shami ran through the kiwi top order with a spell of 6-1-18-3 in the previous match and won the man of the match award for his clinical performance. Hardik Pandya (2/16), Mohammad Siraj (1/10), and Shardul Thakur (1/20) picked up wickets regularly at the other end. Washington Sundar (2/7) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/29) too continued the good work of pacers.
The Visitors were bowled out for just 108 runs in the last game in under 35 overs and recorded their third-lowest score in the ODIs. The middle order batter Glenn Philips top scored with 36 runs while the duo of Bracewell (22 runs) and Santner (27 runs) chipped in with small cameos in Raipur. Black Caps’ top-order players are yet to make a mark in this series and will be eyeing this match as an opportunity.
NZ bowlers were never in the contest with a small total on board. Mitchell Santner and Henry Shipley chipped in with a wicket each in the match. Blair Tickner and Lockie Ferguson were economical in their overs in the last game. Black Caps’ bowlers were unable to stop the Indian batters so far in the series.
Talking about the ODI matches played between India and New Zealand, 115 ODIs have been played between the two teams so far. Out of which Team India has won 57 and New Zealand has won 50.
During this, 1 match tie and 7 matches have no result. Therefore, it is bound to be a close fight between the two teams in the second match. Its trailer has also been seen in the final match of the series.

Pitch Report:
Holkar’s pitch is usually a good surface to bat on with some assistance for bowlers as well. We expect the conditions to be perfect for the game with no weather interruptions expected.
Holkar will have an excellent outfield where the ball might fly off the bat. We expect the teams to score 270-280 runs in this match. Both teams might opt to bat first here and test their batting line-up on a good pitch. We expect both captains to experiment in this match.
The weather in Holkar Cricket Stadium is expected to remain warm on Monday i.e. 23rd of January. Bright sunlight can provide a challenge to the players at the time of the start of the match at 1:30 pm. However, the weather is expected to turn cooler as the day passes.

The Black Caps have been struggling for consistency as they are missing a lot of their key players like Williamson, Boult and Southee. NZ will need to up their game to put on a fight against clinical India. We expect India to win this match and series by 3-0 against the Kiwis.
