IND vs SA T20 Series Review: All you need to know from every record to stats
The fifth T20 match between India and South Africa was cancelled due to rain. Rain disturbed today’s match twice. After the first toss, the match was halted for 50 minutes due to rain. Instead of starting the match at 7 pm, the match started at 7.50 pm. One over each was cut from both the innings and the match was to be of 19 overs.
However, it started raining again only after 3.3 overs of the Indian innings and it did not stop after that. When the match was stopped due to rain again, then the score of Team India was 28 runs for two wickets. Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 15 runs off seven balls with the help of two sixes.
Ishan Kishan was clean bowled by Lungi Ngidi. Rituraj Gaikwad was dismissed after scoring 10 runs in 12 balls. He was caught by Ngidi at the hands of Pretorius. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on zero and Rishabh Pant scored one run. Indian captain Rishabh Pant did not make any changes in the playing-11 for the fifth match.
At the same time, South Africa’s regular captain Temba Bavuma was not playing this match due to injury. Keshav Maharaj was captaining the team in his place. There were three changes in the South African team. Bavuma, Yansen and Tabrez Shamsi were dropped. At the same time, Tristan Stubbs, Reeza Hendrix and Kagiso Rabada returned to the team in their place.
There was no reserve day for the fifth T20, so the umpire decided to call off the match. The five-match T20I series ended in a 2-2 draw. South Africa has maintained their illustrious record of not losing a limited-overs series on Indian soil since 2010. Rishabh Pant also missed out on winning the first series as captain.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled brilliantly throughout the series, was adjudged Man of the Series. He took six wickets in five matches. South Africa won the first T20 in this series by seven wickets and the second T20 by four wickets. After this, India returned to the series and won the third T20 by 48 runs and the fourth T20 by 82 runs. Thus the series ended in a 2-2 draw.
Now the Indian T20 team will go to Ireland under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. At the same time, the Test team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is on a tour of England. Team India will play a two-match T20 series against Ireland on 26 and 28 June. At the same time, the Test team will play the only Test match against England from July 1. After the Test series, the Indian team has to play a three-match T20 and ODI series against England.
Indian team misses making history
Team India had a chance to make a record. Till now Team India has not been able to beat South Africa in the T20 series at home. South Africa first came to India in the year 2015-16 to play the T20 series. In this three-match series, the Indian team had to face defeat by 2-0. The third T20 was cancelled due to rain. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was handling the command of the Indian team in this series.
In 2019-20, the South African team again came to India to play the T20 series. Then Virat Kohli was handling the command of the Indian team. This series also rain had disturbed. The three-match series ended at 1-1. One match of the series was cancelled due to rain.
