IND vs SL, 1st T20I: Jasprit Bumrah will be seen in a new role, Rohit Sharma told ‘Great opportunity

IND vs SL 1st T20I, Jasprit Bumrah has been selected as the vice-captain for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma has described the new responsibility as beneficial for this bowler.

T20 series of three matches is going to start between India and Sri Lanka from 24 February. Jasprit Bumrah has been chosen as the vice-captain of Team India. Captain Rohit Sharma feels that the responsibility of vice-captaincy will make pacer Jasprit Bumrah more confident about the things he wants to do on the field.

Jasprit Bumrah has been appointed as the vice-captain for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Earlier, Bumrah had served as India’s vice-captain for the ODI series against South Africa, when KL Rahul was the captain and took over that duty during the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Rohit Sharma Press Conference

Captain Rohit Sharma said, “To be honest, it doesn’t matter much whether it is the vice-captain bowler or the batsman. It is the mind that Jasprit Bumrah as a player has a good mind for the game.

I have seen it up close. This is a good way for him to step into a leadership role now. For him, he has taken his game to the next level. I am sure he wants to continue to do so in the future as well.”

Rohit Sharma also said, “But it’s only going to give him more confidence in whatever he wants to do on the field. He enjoys being the vice-captain of the team for this particular series. Let’s hope everything goes well. I know him closely and have talked to him a lot about cricket.”
