IND vs SL 2nd Test: Two Sri Lankan players have been ruled out of 2nd Test on Bengaluru

Team India is currently playing against Sri Lanka in the 2-match Test series. With this series, for the first time in the hands of Rohit Sharma, the command of the Test team has also come.

After the T20 series, Rohit will now try to do a clean sweep in the Test series as well. Meanwhile, big news has come out for Rohit’s team. One of the biggest enemies of the captain has been out of the Test series.

Rohit took a sigh of relief

Team captain Dimuth Karunaratne on Friday confirmed that Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nisanka has been ruled out of the second Test against India starting Saturday due to injury.

Karunaratne also mentioned that Dusmantha Chameera, who sat out in the first Test in Mohali, is not available for selection as he is recovering from an injury. Accordingly, two Sri Lankan players have been out simultaneously.

According to the Sri Lankan captain, Chameera’s workload was being managed till the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in October this year, and the pacer will be available only for limited-overs games in the interim period after his recovery.

“The (Sri Lanka team) medical panel has told us that we have to deal with his injury till the T20 World Cup and he should be used only for white-ball cricket,” ESPN Cricinfo quoted Karunaratne as saying.

Have a blast in IPL too

Chameera is also expected to play for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 starting from March 26. The franchise picked him after spending Rs 2 crore in the mega auction last month.

The fast bowler did not take part in the opening Test, which Sri Lanka lost by an innings and 222 runs. However, Nissaka’s absence would hurt Sri Lanka more, as it was a splendid batting first in the match, scoring an unbeaten 61 in the first innings as the top scorer for the team.
