After taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, clinical India will aim to register a series whitewash over West India in the final T20I. Meanwhile, the middle-order woes of the Indian team seemed to have vanished completely as the likes of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Venkatesh Iyer have provided stability to the Indian line-up.

 

On the other hand, West Indies though have played some fantastic cricket on the India tour, have failed to convert their performance into a victory. Their bowling attack did well in the powerplay overs but lacked potency in the death overs. The batters have done a great job in both the games and have ensured that they stay alive in the contest till the end of the fixtures.

 

Batting first in the second T20I, the Indian team didn’t get off to a good start as they have lost both their openers in the powerplay. However, the likes of Virat Kohli (41-ball 52) and Rishabh Pant (28-ball 52) in the middle order helped to steady India’s innings while the cameos from Venkatesh Iyer (18-ball 33) and Rohit Sharma (18-ball 19) ensured that India register an above-the-par total. Roston Chase (2-25) was the top wicket-taker for West Indies while Romario Shepherd and Sheldon Cottrell claimed a scalp each.

 

Chasing a decent 187 run target, Caribbean batters got the better of Indian bowlers. Nicholas Pooran (41-ball 62) and Rovman Powell (36-ball 68) were the top scorers for the visitors. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped one wicket each to help India register an eight-run win over the visitors.

 

India has rested Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant for the final T20I with the series already registered on their name. In the absence of Virat & Rishabh, Shreyas Iyer & Ruturaj Gaikwad who had to sit out of the T20Is due to team combination might feature in the Playing XI in the third T20I.

 

Heading into the third T20I India will be aiming to register a series sweep over West Indies while the visitors will try to save their pride & register their first win of the series. With both the giants eyeing a win fans can expect a cracking contest on Sunday at the grounds of Eden Gardens.
