After Savoring the bitter taste of defeat in the recently concluded India vs South Africa limited-overs series, India is all set to lock horns with West Indies in a white ball series comprising three ODIs & three T20Is.
Indian Team Preview
India’s home white ball series will commence with three-match ODIs beginning from February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Those who aren’t aware, let us tell you an interesting fact, the first ODI match of the three-match ODI series will be India’s 1000th ODI. The Indian cricket team is the first team in World to achieve this glorious milestone.
After having a forgetful South Africa tour, the Indian team will put their every strength to come back to winning terms by clinching the ODI series against West Indies. Earlier this year, India locked horns with South Africa in a three-match ODI series & suffered a series whitewash by losing all the three ODIs. The team was fielding some big guns & still suffered a chastening defeat which is not less than a shame for the mighty Asian giants.
The Indian batters weren’t able to step up & perform well when the team needed them the most. As a result, they have suffered a humiliating defeat in the ODI series at the hands of South Africa. They tried their best but couldn’t match the momentum of the Proteas squad. Indian bowlers, too, couldn’t restrict the South African batters from posting big totals, which reflected loopholes in the Indian bowling department. Now heading into the home ODI series against West Indies, India will aim to up their game with both bat & ball & register a stunning win.
What’s exciting about this ODI series is that the newly appointed white-ball cricket Captain Rohit Sharma will return to the squad after missing the South Africa tour due to his hamstring injury. Now our ‘new skip’ is completely fit & will be donning the captaincy duties in the West Indies ODI series. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul led the Indian team in the ODI series against South Africa.
With Rohit Sharma back into the house, the Indian team will make sure to turn all the wrongs into rights & win this crucial home ODI series against Windies. Also, with ODI World Cup being not too far, both India & West Indies will utilize this ODI series to polish their skills & test their team’s capabilities.
West Indies Team Preview
On the other hand, West Indies will walk into the India ODI series on the back of a blistering 3-2 win in the T20I series against England. They have last played a three-match ODI series against Ireland that they have eventually lost by a 1-2 score. West Indies men couldn’t show their excellence in either of the department during the ODI series against Ireland. They failed miserably from restricting Ireland in their run chases & thereby was unable to deliver with the bat & put up a challenging total on board.
However, the West Indies made a solid comeback in their five-match T20I series against England by clinching with a 3-2 score. They did their best with both bat & ball, put their every strength to win the T20I series, & eventually balanced their ODI series defeat against Ireland.
Heading into the ODI series against India, the Windies will look ahead to carry the winning momentum & confidence from their T20I series win & will aim at creating history by outclassing the ‘Men in Blue’ at their home ground.
With World’s two best teams on the field, the fans could expect some fierce action during the IND vs WI ODI series starting from February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
