According to the scheduled that has been reported to be the final draft of the series, Indian Cricket Team is expected to reach Zimbabwe on 15 August 2022, which incidentally is India’s Independence Day. The series will than be starting on August 18 with alternate days gap between the three matches.
“It’s a big opportunity for the players to play against the Indian players and for the cricketing fraternity in Zimbabwe. It will create a lot of interest amongst the younger generation to take up this game.
Overall, the series is very good for Zimbabwe cricket,” said Lalchand Rajput, the Technical Director of Zimbabwe Cricket. Rajput has also been the coach of the Zimbabwe before the position changed.
“We are absolutely delighted to host India and we look forward to a competitive and memorable series,” a Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) official said. All the matches are expected to be played in Harare.
Indian team is expected to rest most of its seniors players for this specific tour as the team management is now fully focused on the T20 Internationals with an eye on the World Cup later this year.
As has been the over the years, the fringe players will given opportunity at the highest level. Interestingly, most Indian players have made their debuts in Zimbabwe than any other country including India.
