IND vs SA

India and South Africa are set to take on each other in the second ODI on Friday at Boland Stadium in Paarl. South Africa have taken a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the first game by 31 runs on Wednesday. The Proteas didn’t make a great start with the bat as they had lost three wickets for just 68 runs.

However, what followed was a record 204-run partnership between Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma. Both of them scored respective centuries and helped the team reach a formidable score of 206 runs in the first innings.

India, in reply, lost KL Rahul early in the innings. However, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli then led an outstanding recovery.

The duo added 92 runs for the second wicket. Shikhar Dhawan, eventually, got out after scoring 79 runs in 84 balls. Three overs later, Virat Kohli also got out after scoring 51 runs off 63 balls.

India lost track thereafter as they slipped from 138 for 2 to 199 for 7 in no time. The likes of Rishabh Pant (12), Shreyas Iyer (17) and Venkatesh Iyer (2) all failed to make a significant impact with the bat. Shardul Thakur later scored a half-century but only to delay the inevitable.

India managed to play 50 overs but scored 265 runs, thereby falling 31 runs short of the target. Another defeat would end their hopes of winning the series.

The two teams will once again play another match at Boland Park. The pitch is in on the slower side and both teams should look to bat first upon winning the toss.
