Despite everything, the young opener Pathum Nissanka kept his stance and played some amazing shots in the third match region.
Pathum Nissanka and Shanaka scored 55 off 22 balls and took Indian bowlers under pressure. Pathum Nissanka scored 73 off 51 balls.
The cameo of Shanaka made all the difference in the score. He went after Harshal Patel and scored 23 off the last over. He scored a massive six of 104 metres over long-off. Sri Lanka finished with 183 in 20 overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma made another record of taking 50 catches in T20Is. Chahal and Bumrah bowled economically and shared one wicket each. Overall, every bowler ticket the wicket column.
India didn’t start well. Rohit Sharma was bowled by Chameera in the first over. It will be right to say that there were some spicy bouncers bowled by Sri Lankan fast bowlers.
In the first 6 overs, 60% of their bowls clicked over 149kmph. Lahiru Kumara bagged Ishan Kishan’s wicket in the 4 over. From there, Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer tried to bring stability.
Samson was under pressure and took his time whereas Iyer successfully accelerated the inning’s pace. He played a match winning innings.
Both Samson and Iyer created an 84 runs partnership and consequently, that was enough to get everything done. Samson scored 39 off 25 balls before getting dismissed by Lahiru Kumara.
However, the wicket didn’t help Sri Lanka. Next Batsman, Jadeja, scored 45 off 18 balls and sealed the match as well as the series for India. India successfully chased down the target of 184 runs in 17.1 overs.
Shreyas Iyer received the Man of the Match award for his match winning contribution of 74 runs.
