Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw endured the pain barrier during play in the Manchester Derby to help his side win.

Reports claim that Shaw was a doubt for the derby clash even after the lineup. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed Shaw was declared fit after the warm-up at The Etihad Stadium, but reports claim he was in pain.

Despite the left-back undergoing several treatments throughout the game, his strike ensures Solskjaer a comfortable second.

About Shaw, Solskjaer said, “Absolutely incredible.”

“He was a massive doubt until after the warm-up. He needed the warm-up to be cleared to play,” he added.

The 25-year old was instrumental in the derby victory, netting the second goal and his first in the Premier League since August 2018. However, Shaw’s passion for the game and willingness to endure the pain barrier highlights a mentality shift.

“Luke’s performance was top. He’s aggressive, hard to play one against one, and when he goes forward on those runs, he’s unstoppable. He’s improved so much, he’s improving all the time and we’re delighted for him,” the Norwegian said.

He admitted, “We have to draw on previous good experience and how did that feel out there.  We knew we had to suffer.”

“We suffered a lot, they (the players) worked their nuts off. I think the experience of having gone through that has helped us, of course,” Solskjaer continued,

Meanwhile, his teammate Victor Lindelof has lauded his side’s performance that United ‘can beat every team’ at their best.

The Red Devils’ center back expressed his belief that United “can beat every team” the 2-0 triumph.

“We are always confident going into every game. We know we can beat every team,” the Swedish said.

“It’s a very tough away game to play against a really good team. It shows what a great team we are and what we can do on the pitch,” Lindelof added.

“We need to keep working hard and hopefully we can get some more wins,” he concluded.
