IPL 2022: He can bowl 150 in every match but can’t give less than 40 runs, Aakash Chopra On Umran Malik

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik needs to bring control over his bowling along with his pace.

The 22-year-old was retained by SRH ahead of IPL 2022 and is certainly one of the up-and-coming Indian young talents.

Although IPL 2022 hasn’t been that good for Umran Malik, he has so far this season conceded runs at an economy rate of 10.43.

Aakash Chopra believes that this raw pace is of no use if there is no control and Malik will have to learn to bowl economically with pace.

Umran Malik will have to learn to bowl economical – Aakash Chopra

In a video on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “Umran Malik takes the check for the fastest delivery, but he does not give less than 40 runs in a game.

He’ll have to try to be a little more economical. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will have to start well and it will be on him and T Natarajan to bowl well in the death overs.

Although SRH will play KKR after two consecutive wins, Chopra said about this match, “I do not understand the strength of this SRH team, be it batting or bowling. I didn’t expect them to beat CSK and Gujarat Titans. But the problem is they don’t have Washington Sundar.”

Aakash Chopra feels Sunrisers need to back their retained all-rounder Abdul Samad. Samad was dropped after two matches but the 44-year-old Akash feels he can give him depth in the batting and bowl a few overs as well.

He further added, “KKR have some left-handers so you can ask Aiden Markram to bowl a few more overs and look at getting your retained player Abdul Samad in the side. You can get some overs from Samad and Abhishek Sharma too.
