IPL 2022 Mega auctions auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed during the bidding of Wanindu Hasaranga. As per Cricbuzz, he is now better and doing well, but a bit shook after the fall. Hugh Edmeades has been conducting IPL auctions since 2018 and has rich experience in conducting biddings and auctions.

Who is Hugh Edmeades?

Hugh Edmeades is a British, is the auctioneer for the IPL 2022 season, He is in charge of the bidding for the 590 players registered for the mega auctions this year. Edmeades was appointed in 2018 by the Board of Contro for Cricket in India (BCCI) for holding the IPL auction as a replacement for Richard Madley.

 

Edmeades has over 35 years of auctioneering experience and has overseen over 2,500 auctions around the world. The British auctioneer has participated in auctions involving worldwide fine art, historic autos, and charity auctions. Furthermore, he has auctioned over 310,000 lots of players, products, and other items for an astounding total of 2.7 billion pounds.

 

Edmeades also has his own website where he posted about all his experience of all the items he has auctioned to date. He has auction experience in paintings, fine furniture, ceramics, films, and sports collectables. He auctioned off 88 guitars belonging to Eric Clapton in 2004 and raised an incredible $7,438,624. Meanwhile, he was involved in the £2,434,500 sale of Daniel Craig’s Aston Martin DB10 from the James Bond film Spectre in 2016.

 

IPL 2022 Auctioneer:

This is the second time Hugh Edmeades is conducting IPL 2022 mega auction. He first conducted the IPL auctions in 2019 after becoming just the second person to be appointed for the IPL auctioneer after Richard Madley.

 

“With each franchise being given an increased purse of Rs 90 crore, it is likely that individual prices will also increase. I don’t have a specific figure in mind, but I would be surprised if the Rs 20 crore barrier is not broken this year,” Edmeades told InsideSport ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions.
