Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw has failed the yo-yo test in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he will still be able to play in IPL 2022.

Actually, Prithvi is currently not on any list in the new contract of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), so he will be able to play in the league.

Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, has passed the Yo-Yo test even if didn’t played cricket in the last 4 months.

According to PTI, Prithvi has scored less than 15 in the Yo-Yo Test held at the National Cricket Academy (NCC) in Bengaluru. Whereas the BCCI has set a score of at least 16.5 to pass this test.

Hardik, on the other hand, has scored above 17 which is just enough. Apart from this, there is news that Hardik has shown signs of good fitness in bowling in the NCA camp.

A BCCI source clarified that despite failing in this test, Prithvi is eligible to play in the upcoming season of IPL.

“It’s just a fitness update. It doesn’t stop Prithvi from playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. In IPL 2022, Delhi will start its campaign against Mumbai on 26 March.

A BCCI source has given a possible reason for Prithvi’s low score in the yo-yo test. He said about this, “Prithvi has played three Ranji matches in a row.

Once you play three consecutive first-class matches, fatigue can affect your Yo-Yo score as well.” Prithvi, who captains Mumbai in domestic cricket, has scored 53, 9, 44 and 1 in the last four Ranji matches.

Hardik has been out of the Indian team for some time due to fitness issues. His lifestyle is quite unique compared to other players, he has also kept himself away from the current season of Ranji Trophy. Hardik will captain Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022.

According to cricbuzz, a BCCI source said, “Although the World Cup is more than six months away. The coaches and selectors want to assess the fitness of the players and take stock of things for the big event.”

The BCCI has released the central contract list of players, in which Hardik has suffered heavy losses in his grading. He has gone from Grade-A to Grade-C. He has been suffering with injuries for some time now and has been away from cricket.
