IPL 2023 injuries: This IPL has been full of injuries, with a number of big players already forced to opt out from the tournament, only because of injury. Why it is happening? Nobody knows.

Maybe cricket is moving around at a rapid pace, players have to make a lot of adjustment and their body in not entirely prepared for it.

IPL 2023 ruled out players:

MI – Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson.

CSK – Mukesh Choudhary and Kyle Jamieson.

RCB – Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar.

DC – Rishabh Pant.

PBKS – Jonny Bairstow.

RR – Prasidh Krishna.

GT – Kane Williamson.

A new name has been added to the list. Now, Englishman left arm pacer Reece Topley has injured himself and of result to that, will take no further part in IPL 2023.

Topley dislocated his shoulder while fielding at third man during the fourth IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

At first view, it didn’t look anything like nasty but Topley has been susceptible to injuries throughout his career. Soon after scans, he was advised to leave for UK so he can receive adequate treatment.

With World Cup in view, things look gloomy because we have already seen Kane Williamson killing his chances of leading New Zealand to the World Cup because of an threatening injury. He’s also back in New Zealand waiting for medical operation to get done.

Riley Meredith replaces Jhye Richardson at Mumbai Indians

steptodown

IPL 2023 injures: Jhye Richardson, the first choice bowler for Mumbai Indians, was ruled out of the tournament before the IPL started. Now, MI has signed Tasmanian fast bowler Riley Meredith who can consistently click over 140 kmph and even reach 150.

Meredith will join Mumbai for INR 1.5 crore. Last season, Meredith played 8 matches for Mumbai Indians and took 8 wickets over economy of 8. So, he is definitely a good choice and most importantly, he has brief experience of playing in IPL.

Meredith was at his best in his season with Hobart Hurricanes, he had 21 scalps in 14 matches for the team. The best thing about Meredith is that he bowls at serious pace and consistently attacking the stumps.

Well, he can go for runs because conditions are entirely different from Australia. There’s another thing, when a team looks for replacement, they are not entirely invested to utilise their signings.

Backing your players is of profound necessity because individual signings aren’t going to win you every match. But with backing and nurturing, these players can be developed into an integral part of the team.
