Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals Match Preview

Rajasthan Royals failed to complete the job at hand against underdogs Punjab Kings in their adopted home Guwahati. The weakness of their middle order was at total exposure to one of the best T20 bowler Nathan Ellis.

For Delhi Capitals, it wasn’t a bad night despite the loss but they, too, have middle order issue. Mitchell Marsh will not play in this game so that means Rovman Powell will be back and he can hit the ball long way.

Rajasthan Royals Team Combination

It will be interesting to see if Rajasthan Royals will back Devdutt Padikkal who had a below standard batting performance on a good batting pitch. Jason Holder bats at 8 which is injustice to a player who has a double ton to his name in test cricket.

Riyan Parag, a big name going around in RR camp but hasn’t done anything exception yet. Jos Buttler will miss the game which means either Joe Root or Donavon Ferreira comes in. KM Asif will get a chance or not, hard to say but Sandeep Sharma is better to be in the team.

In absence of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson will need to play a bigger role with bigger impact. Leaving a little time to do a big task for Shimron Hetmeyer has backfired, it was the case previous year too. Trent Boult as always perfect to lead the bowling attack.

Delhi Capitals Team Combination

David Warner still struggling to find his feet, two fair innings in terms of runs but with a below par strike rate. Has to change things before Delhi feels sinked, the absence of Rishabh Pant is distinctly visible in the line-up.

Prithvi Shaw must look forward to play an innings which goes beyond the powerplay, too many risks in initial overs possess a grave risk for the player as well as the team. Sarfaraz Khan hasn’t looked settled, his glove working has been ordinary and batting average and scratchy.

Yash Dhull, a better option to bat at 6 beneath Rilee Rossouw and Axar Patel. Holding Axar back is not a good play, he is a serious hitter who can definitely play bigger role if bats upto the order.

Delhi Capitals have complete bowling line-up. Anrich Nortje operates as enforcer alongside Khaleel Ahmed who can swing the ball both ways. It is high time Kuldeep Yadav does some magic, and Warner should also utilize Axar in bowling to keep the opposition circumspective.

Both teams go head to head in very competitive fashion, sharing 13 wins each. Rajasthan Royals have won 7 times batting first while Delhi has won 7 times while chasing. Mitchell Marsh played Incredible knock of 89 runs last year against Rajasthan but unfortunately he will not play today.

There was plenty of drama a season before Rovman Powell scared Royals with three sixes in three balls, 36 were required of the last over. Pant objected that third ball was a no ball but the umpire deemed it a fair delivery.

Pitch Report

It is warm day at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Plenty of runs for both teams but it is a day game so chasing will be a thing both captains will run after. The deck is custom made for batting with short boundaries, so bowlers will skills and variations will be successful.

However, Anrich Nortje can do things only with his pace. Warner should use him straightaway before the batters get their eyes set on a good batting track.
