As this season of IPL 2023 started, the one thing that fans didn’t want was those heartbreaking farewell words to come out of Dhoni’s mouth. The season started with Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings match at the same venue and ended with this too, the only difference we saw was in the results. Yesterday, CSK won the final by five wickets in hand and claimed their fifth title. After the match, when it was time for the much-awaited interview by MS Dhoni, he made a heart-stopping remark that the crowd in the stadium went crazy.

Bhogle’s question to MS
It wasn’t Dhoni’s night as a batter because he suffered a golden duck during CSK’s chase of 171 runs, but it was definitely his night as a captain, who played an important role for the team. After the match, in the long presentation ceremony, when Dhoni was finally called out by Harsha Bhogle, he did not waste any time in asking the main question.
Beginning his talk, Harsha said, “We meet again. We meet again, like we so often do after these title wins. He asked Dhoni if he should ask something or if he was going to say something anyway. Dhoni replied, It’s better if you ask and then I reply.

Skipper talks about retirement
After Bhogle completed his question, the words came out of Dhoni’s mouth, and he admitted that probably it was the right time for him to bid farewell to the sport by announcing his retirement from IPL, but there was more to his answer as he credited the fans for the support they have given him throughout the season and said that he remains open to playing another season and would want to make a comeback next year as well.

Dhoni talks about his emotions
His comeback would not be easy because of his ongoing knee condition and, of course, the age factor. Dhoni added that he has nine months to make the big call on IPL 2024 participation as the auctions start around December. Dhoni said, “It will be more like a gift from my side, although it will not be easy for me. He also opened up about his emotions on display, which were seen on the last ball of the match.
Dhoni didn’t even look at the last ball, and when Jadeja hit a four and rushed towards his dugout, the skipper lifted him with happiness. Dhoni said, “You do get emotional simply because it’s the last part of my career, it started here, and the first game when I walked down, everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were watery, and I just stood in the dugout for a while, and I realised I want to enjoy this.
