In an international encounter against Spain on Sunday, Isle of Man was knocked out for just 10 runs. It has become the lowest score in the annals of men’s Twenty20 cricket.
The Isle of Man’s best scorer, Joseph Burrows, had four while seven men were expelled without opening their run acount.
Atif Mehmood and Mohammad Kamran, two left-arm fast bowlers, each grabbed four wickets. In the third over, with wickets of Luke Ward, Carl Hartmann, and Edward Beard, Kamran completed his haul with a hat-trick.
In response, the Spanish team won after only two balls thanks to starter Awais Ahmed’s back-to-back sixes. So it was the first game in history of T20 cricket which ended with only 2 ball played in the second innings to chase down the first innings total.
The previous low score in the format was 15 versus Adelaide Strikers by Sydney Thunder in the Australian Big Bash League the previous season.
The lowest T20 international total up to Sunday was 21, embarassingly achieved by Turkey against the Czech Republic in 2019.
Before Spain cruised to victory by seven wickets with 45 balls remaining, Isle of Man scored 132-8. They lost by two balls in their sixth and final encounter during a trip to Spain, losing all of their games.
The Isle of Man participated in World Cup qualifiers in 2016 and 2018 after becoming an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2017.
