Issy Wong has become a most talked name in international cricket after her memorable performance in Women’s Premier League. Playing for Mumbai Indians, she became the first player to take hat-trick in WPL, followed by a match winning performance in finals.

Wong was fourth highest wicket taker in the league with 15 wickets, second only in numbers. Not only she bowl brilliantly at any stage of the game but also, she can hit some lusty blows with the bat.

Nonchalant in nature, Issy Wong carries a pure cricketing nature. That’s a big reason why many a English international players are seeing her as future superstar of England cricket team.

While talking on Tailenders Podcast, James Anderson, who is impressed by 20 years old talent, said, “ What I’d be looking at is she’s got something that sort of X Factor like a wicket taking ability, so you know with the ashes coming up this summer.”

“I’ll be looking at the Test match. I know she’s playing short form cricket for the last few months, but I’d look at that Test match and think having that little bit of X Factor in she is someone who can break up a partnership, someone who can take wickets, someone who can blow the tail away? Yeah, that’s what you need to win big games like that. So that’s what I’d be looking at.”

Issy Wong has some serious potential, her attitude is quite impressive on the field. Even though she is still young, hardly there is a batter who can intimidate her. Some good signs for English cricket.

So far, Wong has only played one test match and it was against South Africa, she took three wickets in it. Her ability to bowl at any stage of the game is something that makes her a special character in the team.

There is more of her to see in upcoming months in The Hundred and Ashes at home against the visiting Aussies.
