Milan’s chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, insisted that he continues to hold goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on the road in absolute respect, while admitting that the controversial Super League is dead.

Ivan respects Donnarumma’s choice

Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to lower the curtain of his six-year career at San Siro when his contract expires at the end of the month. Milan ultimately failed to tie the 22-year-old to the lengthening, but Ivan Gazidis has no ill-treatment for the Italian puncher. The Rossoneri CEO declined to offer information on talks with the player and his agent Mino Raiola when he wondered about his early start from the outside.

Ivan Gazidis said that he does not want to disclose any details or timing, and Ivan does not know the boundaries of the relationship between Gigio and Mino Raiola. In the end, of course, the decision is always up to the player. According to Gazidis, he can say that Gigio was an exceptional professional every day, and in the last match against Atalanta, no one was happier than him to qualify for the Champions League. Ivan absolutely respects him and also respects his choice.  Gianluigi Donnarumma made his debut for Milan as a 16-year-old back in 2015 and has since played 251 appearances for the Serie A. Italy International also recorded 88 blank sheets, but will leave San Siro with just a single Supercoppa Italiana triumph in his name.

Problems remain unaffected

Ivan continued to weigh the controversial Super League opening that rocked the football world in April, conceding plans could not continue after the withdrawal of nine of the original 12 founding clubs, including Milan. However, the 56-year-old businessman still believes that drastic changes are needed at the highest level after the top clubs faced financial struggles during the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the Super League is, as intended, dead. However, the problems that led to this project remain unaffected.
