MI paltan have certainly found their new Bhau (big brother) in Tim David after his blistering 14 balls 45 runs knock against Rajasthan Royals. For years, this job was done by Kieron Pollard but Tim David’s 3 sixes were as impressive as the birthday celebration of Rohit Sharma.

As good as the innings was, there is lot of effort and hard work being put in before something like that comes out on actual field. “I’ve been hungry to have a finish like that, so it feels amazing,” said Tim David after his blazing innings.

“I’ve been waiting for my chance so I’m really pleased I took it. I’ve been putting in some really hard work on the training on the training field over the last few weeks… obviously Polly’s there a big part of it so a lot of conversations and then just trying to relax and enjoy the games.”

Tim David finsihed an earlier game against Delhi in different sort of situation. This is really needed from him and maturing his game at the right time is a sign of great player.

There is lot of talk about sending David upto the order, it might ruffle up the line-up but at some point, he will need to play a different role when top order will fail to execute according to the plan.

David’s Respond On Batting Upto The Order

David responded to the question about him batting upto the order perfectly, signifying the importance of having experienced top order batters.

“Honestly, I’m happy doing whatever the team needs. It sounds very cliche, but I don’t know where I would move up the order because we’ve got Ishan, Rohit, Greenie coming out and smacking it.”

“So I’m not moving any of those guys out of their batting positions. I’m happy doing my job. That means accepting that sometimes I’m not going to have a massive role and that individual performances aren’t going to be there.”

The Versatile Batting Ability Is In Making

Even though Tim David is seen only as a finisher but he has all the guts and skills to become an all rounder batting option. We have watched him doing it in the BBL for Hobart Hurricanes.

Working on his ability to play prolonged innings, David said, “I’m trying to develop to become a more all-rounder player. At times, I can do the power hitting but I’m also trying to become versatile and finding the best option. So being as consistent as I can, being able to score when it’s not just amazing batting conditions and and do whatever the team needs.”

That tells us how much thought process he puts into his game. It is only good for Mumbai Indians but for the Australian team who opted him in for T20 World Cup. He needs some backing, and definitely the top performance will come with consistency.

Tim David’s 3 sixes were quite phenomenal to watch, only few can finish off the business like that. David was waiting for such a moment to finish a game when odds are not in favour.

It was self assurance more than anything that ushered out the best of him in that situation. For a guy who’s been waiting for a moment like that, it was worth to wait and what a finish.

“For me personally it was trying to stay quite level because I’ve been really hungry to finish off a game like that. And it it plays on your mind at times because you want to do it, so trying to stay present and just enjoy it when it comes.”
