Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has been chasing the 20-year-old’s signing all summer, with Sancho their No.1 goal as they look to add to their squad before the transfer window closes on October 5. Dortmund has set a deadline of August 10 for the completion of any deal.

The deadline has passed for Manchester City to sign Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho could have secured a departure to Manchester United if certain conditions were met, while BVB insisted that the “door closed” and that a transfer is now impossible. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has been chasing the 20-year-old’s signing all summer, with Sancho their No.1 goal as they look to add to their squad before the transfer window closes on October 5. Dortmund has set a deadline of August 10 for the completion of any deal. However, with Man United, it did not meet their €120 million asking price. And the Bundesliga side was adamant that one of their star names would not leave the club while sporting director Michael Zorc admitted that while there was an agreement that Sancho could leave if certain conditions are met, now the deadline has passed.

Ousmane Dembele has been a possible alternative for Sancho

He said: “We had an apparent deal with him that he could make a move under certain conditions, up to a determined point in time. And then the door closed. Due to his absence from the line-up, to face Freiburg, goalkeeper Roman Burki also missing out, Zorc added: “It hasn’t worked out for today, both are not ready to play. It is unclear whether Dortmund’s public statements will deter Manchester United from further pursuing Sancho, and there are only two days left before the summer transfer window closes. As reported on September 29, the Red Devils, who have only added Donny van de Beek to their team in what has been a disappointing lack of transfer activity, did not make an official bid for Sancho. That has been Ousmane Dembele’s name emerge a possible alternative, and United are now potentially considering at exploring a loan move for the Barcelona forward.

Indeed, Ronald Koeman stopped short of confirming that France international Dembele would stay at the Camp Nou, telling reporters on Saturday that while he was still part of his plans, it would be up to him to move on. The coach told reporters: “Dembele is a Barcelona player, his future depends on what he thinks. I did not speak to him about it. Let’s see, and there are two days left. We have a lot of competition in the attack. Ansu Fati started the first two games ahead of him. If the player is not happy, they can talk to me. And Ousmabe’s not said anything to me. If he stays, I count on him, and he will get a chance to play.”
