England’s all-time leading wicket-taker has been overlooked for the West Indies tour.

James Anderson, after a average performance in the Ashes, has been dropped from the touring squad. The news has left James Anderson in disdain.

He is hoping that this break won’t become a long one and consequently the end of his career. Since turning 35, he has bagged 160 wickets in 44 tests.

Currently, two of the most experienced bowlers, Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad, will be set to miss the decisive series against the West Indies.

James Anderson, aged 39, and Stuart Broad, aged 35, have been leading the pace attack for the English side.

Anderson, who has 640 wickets in 169 Tests, stated on the Tailenders podcast that it was a “shock” and that he felt “frustration and fury” at first.

He further added that he is motivated to shine for Lancashire when the County Championship begins. He is confident that after the Country Championship, he will retain his position in the English side.

“I’ve got one more attempt at delving deep,” he explained.

Anderson has been for his effort and accuracy. Even on his bad days, he performs with 100% dedication. He believes that despite his age, he is rather very fit.

Additionally, his contribution has always been decisive for England. On a similar note, he mentioned that he still can contribute in the longer format. Evidently, his record speaks for his talent and experience.

The news of being dropped came to him as shock and disappointment. However, he digested the news and feels that he has the fire and enthusiasm to play.

He further added on the Tailenders podcast, “I need to focus on what I can control, which is showing people what I can do with the ball in my hand.”

The decision to withdraw Anderson and Broad “does not signify the end” of their international careers, according to England’s interim managing director Andrew Strauss.

Stuart Broad, too, felt confused and angrier with the unfortunate news. Anderson stated that the two exchanged texts in which they “expressed some initial annoyance and anger.”

England’s first home Test series against world champions New Zealand begins on June 2. Anderson, who will be 40 in July, claimed he is still in “excellent form” and has “become even better” over the previous four years.
