Liverpool midfielder James Milner says hard work and avoidance of alcohol are the reasons the English player has had such a long career in the PL.
What did James Milner say?
It’s been 20 years since James Milner made his PL debut for the Peacocks. After spells at Newcastle and Aston Villa, the Englishman moved on to successful spells with the Citizens and the Reds. But Milner says his hard work and avoidance of alcohol has at times looked down on his fellow players.
The English midfielder said: “You’re just learning at this age and thinking, ‘What can I do to be the best?’ “Alcohol isn’t the best thing for you? Right, I won’t do that.” According to James Milner, after training, he will practice corners and free throws, and not play on the PlayStation. This is obviously changing. After training every day five years ago, Milner would have been shooting and his finish was fantastic. As they get older they can’t hit balls every day after practice so they have to develop. James says he will be doing yoga tonight when he gets home.
“That’s probably the worst saying in football when you’re going through ‘You’re busy you’ or ‘You’re a busy bastard’. That’s not true, is it?” said the Englishman. According to Milner, he does their job to the best of their ability and gets the most out of it. Now this is the norm. Each player in the locker room is in the gym before training. At that time, or even in some other clubs now, they could get five to 10 guys, whereas here it’s 25. James Milner thinks that’s why the guys are on the same level as them.
