After a spectacular performance in the Manchester derby, Roy Keane believes Kevin De Bruyne will go down as one of the all-time Premier League greats.

On Sunday afternoon, City defeated United 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with De Bruyne scoring twice in the first half and Riyad Mahrez adding a brace after the interval.

The City captain scored after only five minutes, capping off a nice play, and then added a second immediately after Jadon Sancho’s equalizer, taking advantage of some shoddy defense.

Apart from his goal-scoring contributions, De Bruyne was dominant throughout the encounter, with Keane heaping praise on the 30-year-old.

‘Kevin De Bruyne is worth seeing. He appears to be a very capable professional with a positive attitude. Goals, assists, and delivery are all important. ‘[He is] a wonderful player, [look at] the stats, [he is] fantastic,’ the Irishman remarked.

‘By the end of his career, he’ll be up there [as one of the best ever Premier League midfielders].’

Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards, two of Keane’s fellow analysts, were as effusive in their appreciation for the Belgian.

‘Talk about top players,’ Redknapp added, referring to Kevin De Bruyne’s playing skills.

‘The way he moves it, the way he strikes it… he’s almost the ideal footballer.’

‘He strikes the ball like Paul Scholes, yet he’s as quick as Steven Gerrard.’ It’s a pleasure to observe him.’ He’s incredible. He’s not like the other players.’

‘His standards are [high] up here,’ Richards noted. He’s the best when he plays like that. Kevin De Bruyne is regaining his form.’

De Bruyne has steadily fought his way back to his best after a sluggish start to the season due to an ankle injury, and has already scored nine Premier League goals this season, his second-highest total since joining City in 2015.
