The French centre-half was considered a hot prospect when snapped up by the Blaugrana from Toulouse in 2019, but little playtime was seen – leading to loan moves being made elsewhere.
Barca’s problems aren’t Todibo’s problems
Jean-Clair Todibo admits that he pays little attention to what is happening at Barcelona after he was sent on loan again, with a defender who seeks a permanent transfer in the summer, saying that the fight at Camp Nou in 2020-21 are “not my problems”. The French centre-half was considered a hot prospect when snapped up by the Blaugrana from Toulouse in 2019, but little playtime was seen – leading to loan moves being made elsewhere. Todibo has now returned to his homeland at Nice and admits that he would like a deal to be struck to prevent him from returning to Catalunya at the end of the current campaign. Todibo told reporters: “I don’t know if it is sorted, but it is my aspiration. So I hope that it happens.”
The French player is focused only on Nice
“My performances will determine whether I stay here or not. Nothing is done”. He added as he argued on goings-on back at Barça: “Without lying to you, I’m not very interested in what’s going on. I watch games from time to time when my French fellows play like Ousmane Dembele, Clement Lenglet or Samuel Umtiti. I only watch because I consider them friends. But beyond that, I don’t necessarily follow them. “I focus on Nice, which is the most important thing for me. How good is it to dream of defending Barcelona when I play against Rennes or Nimes on the weekend? The most crucial thing is to focus on those matches. These are the matches that will bring points for Nice. Today I am a Nice player, and I am not a Barcelona player.”
He went on to talk about Barça’s struggle for a sequence that included a 4-1 defeat against PSG in the last 16 of the UCL: “To be honest, that doesn’t interest me at all. I hope for them that they will figure it out. That is not my problem if you know what I mean.”
