The Bianconeri have cooled their interest in the English player after Allegri targeted the former Red Devils forward as a free transfer this summer.
The current situation of Jesse Lingard
Juventus believed that Lingard could reignite his career in Italy – following in the footsteps of the mass of English players who have traded PL for Serie A in recent years. But after sending representatives to Manchester to negotiate, the Italian giants are believed to have shelved plans to make a formal offer to Jesse.
Last week, Man Utd announced the departure of Jesse Lingard’s after 20 years at the club. The 29-year-old is part of a cleanup led by director of football John Murtow that also includes Cavani, Mata and Pogba. Matic is also set to leave as new manager Ten Hag looks to bring in five new players in his first transfer window at the club.
Jesse has also been linked to Italian champions FC Milan, while West Ham and Newcastle have looked into permanent agreements. Massimiliano Allegri believed Jesse could be successful in Italy – just as Tammy Abraham, Ashley Young, Fikayo Tomori and Chris Smalling have proven since coming out of Serie A, but Juventus’ interest halted after a meeting of the player’s reps.
A little about the topic
Jesse is desperate to be part of Southgate’s World Cup team and knows he must choose his next club wisely. His outstanding form while on loan at West Ham the season before last saw him recalled by England, but the player did eventually miss out on the Euro. The midfielder returned to Gareth Southgate’s team early last season – but his lack of playing time for United saw him drop out again.
Jesse has seen Tomori and Abraham and is making his way into Gareth’s plans after impressing Roma and Milan, respectively, and will look to do likewise wherever he ends up. Newcastle United wanted to take him on loan for the second half of last season – but changed their minds about Man Utd’s insistence on a bonus fee if he helped them avoid relegation. West Ham have retained interest as Jesse’s loan period has ended – and the player still has a strong attachment to the club.
