Jesse Marsch defended the field, which he held with the players
Leeds boss US coach Jesse Marsch defended the away fight he had with the players over the weekend after losing 1-0 to Leicester City.
What did Jesse Marsch say?
The meeting led to jokes at his expense, as it was reminiscent of an American football tradition. However, Jesse, who says he faces stigma as an American coach, is baffled why anyone cares how and where he picks up his players.
Jesse Marsch told reporters who cares. according to Marsch he did it at different points, partly because if he goes back to his time in Germany and Austria, after the game the media will come to the players right away and it’s next to impossible after the match to have the whole group together. The attention around this small little conversation with the group he finds frankly hilarious and ridiculous.
But whatever it is, maybe people don’t see that much here, Jesse has done this a few times in his career, in positives and negatives. And now they have to make sure that they are able, as a group, to process what happened and make sure they are clear about what was good, what was bad and how they are going to move forward.
According to Jesse Marsch, therefore, he thought that immediate feedback in this situation was important. Jesse realizes that maybe he could do it in the dressing room, maybe he could do it on the pitch, he doesn’t know.
Marsch didn’t watch the show
Because he was born in the US, Jesse drew unwelcome comparisons to fictional TV character Ted Lasso, a former American football coach who took over the PL team. Jesse Marsch said he didn’t watch the show… but he understands – last week. According to Jesse, people hate to hear the word football.
Jesse has been using the word football since he was a professional player. They adapt to the culture in this country. This makes him grow and develop and learn new things. All he can say is just how he knows how to do things is get in and if you do that you might be surprised. Sounds like Ted Lasso, so Jesse heard!
