Joana Sanz is finding it challenging to deal with the spotlight and scrutiny she is facing.

Taking a Break from Social Media for Mental Health

Joana Sanz, the wife of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves, recently made a public announcement that she will be stepping away from social media to prioritize her mental well-being.

A Difficult Year for Joana Sanz

Sanz has faced numerous challenges this year, beginning with the loss of her mother. While she is likely still grappling with the grief, the situation worsened when her husband, Dani Alves, was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub at the end of 2022. Since his detainment and transfer to Brians 2 Prison near Barcelona, Sanz has experienced an overwhelming amount of attention from the media.

Divorce and Distance from Public Eye

Following her announcement of leaving Dani Alves and filing for divorce, Sanz expressed her desire to distance herself from the intrusive attention. In a statement published on Instagram, the Spanish model revealed that she had decided to discontinue using social media due to the constant media harassment.

Sanz expressed her uncertainty about whether ceasing social media use would be sufficient to deter media from waiting for her at various locations, such as airports, her home, hotels, restaurants, or during her work. She emphasized that the excessive attention was negatively impacting her mental health and social life.

Struggling with Public Exposure

Sanz admitted that she is not someone who thrives on public exposure, as it causes her anxiety. Fortunately, she is able to perform her work outside of the media spotlight. In her statement, Sanz also expressed gratitude to those who have supported her with kind messages and even embraced her in public without knowing her personally.

Although unsure of her return to social media, Sanz stated that it was time for her to disconnect and focus on her well-being.
