Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo has vowed to have many more years at Man City after getting off to a rocky start to his time in English football.

What did Joao Cancelo say?

The versatile Joao Cancelo completed a move to the Etihad Stadium from the Bianconeri in 2019 but initially struggled to achieve the desired effect and was far from a guaranteed starter under Guardiola. Now a two-time Premier League title holder and a key ingredient in Chelsea’s plans, he has a reputation for being one of the most creative and disruptive full backs on the planet.

The Portugal national team player spoke about his experience to date and plans for the future, that Man City was the most important step he took in his career. According to Joao Cancelo, of course, he was in big clubs such as Benfica, Valencia, Inter, Bianconeri.

But Cancelo thinks the Citizens are on a different level now. Joao decided to come here, but of course the first six months were not very good. He needed a period to adjust. But according to the Portuguese, now he is much more integrated here and hopes to stay for many more years, because he feels good here.

Cancelo can talk about it because after his mistake against the Reds last month – an individual mistake that gave Liverpool three points – the people supported him and he felt the love from their fans and he wants to give it to them in the future. Joao Cancelo says he wants to give them the titles because it’s the best way to redeem them for the support they gave him.
