29-year-old Jorginho’s agent opened the door for a transfer from Chelsea, saying it would be a dream for him to return to Italy.
What did Santos say about Jorginho?
Chelsea paid an initial £ 50million fee to sign Jorginho from Napoli in the summer of 2018, tying him to a five-year contract. This agreement is due to expire in less than two years, and Joao Santos has now speculated that he could leave Stamford Bridge before then. Joao Santos said Jorginho has a contract with Chelsea until June 2023. Obviously, it would be a dream for Jorginho to return to Italy, Santos hopes after winning the World Cup. In a couple of years, they will have to see what the market looks like and what other situations are.
A little about Jorginho
Inter and Roma have been credited with an interest in Jorginho in the recent past, but Juve has been touted as his most likely next destination if he ever leaves Chelsea. Joao also revealed that the Bianconeri made a move for Italy International when Sarri was indicted at Allianz Stadium in 2019-20. The pair previously worked together in Napoli and for one season in Chelsea, but Juventus was unable to arrange a reunion. Joao Santos said that in the past, when Maurizio was coach, it was likely that Jorginho would come to Juve. The Juve director made an approach, it was a possibility.
Last season, Jorginho was arguably the best back in Chelsea, as he played a key role in their run to Champions League glory and the top four in the Premier League finish. The 29-year-old then built on this site to help Italy win the European Championship, leading to speculation that he might be a contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or. Joao Santos thinks he deserves to be on the run and said he thinks Jorginho has a good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or because they usually think of Messi or Ronaldo, but no one has won as much as Jorginho this year.
