Jordi’s motivation is enormous
Jordi Cruyff talked about his return to the Catalan club, 25 years since he left Barcelona. He has been introduced as Joan Laporta’s new sporting consultant at the Blaugrana and is delighted to return. “I left Barcelona 25 years ago, and since then, it has been a long track record; it’s like coming home,” he told Barcelona’s club media channels. “I also know this place well, and it will help me in my work. The motivation is enormous. It is an exceptional club for my family and me. It gives me great pride to be here, and I will give everything to help the squad and the club. My father was very close to two teams, and one of them was Barca. I grew up here, and it is obvious to everyone the link between my family and Barcelona.”
There is a lof of work ahead
“I would like to be Johan Cruyff, but people already know that he is immortal. I can help a lot because when you have been on many continents, you face many problems which prepare you to come to such a club.” Looking ahead, Jordi Cruyff weighed up his objectives for the coming seasons. “Now I have to come here and integrate; there is a lot of work ahead,” he said. “I have been to many different places and have different experiences with different problems, and I intend to come here now and help and work with everyone who is here.” Jordi also took a moment to reflect on his experiences in China and to thank Shenzhen, the club he has just left. “I am very grateful to Shenzhen; they looked after me very well,” said Jordi Cruyff.
“They were going to become one of the best clubs in the Chinese league, and they understood that it was my dream to come here. So Barcelona is the only club I’d have got on a plane and left for.”
