Jorge Mendes discussed Ansu Fati Contract with the Barcelona board
Ansu Fati is a rising star in world football, and Barcelona are committed to his best years at Camp Nou.
Jorge Mendes had a meeting with the Barca directors for Ansu Fati’s new contract
Jorge Mendes was in Catalonia on Wednesday for a meeting with the directors of Barcelona. There he discussed the contract of his new client Ansu Fati. Also the latest on the future of Nelson Semedo, another star represented by Mendes’ Gestifute agency. Ansu Fati is a rising star in world football, and Barcelona want to leave him at Camp Nou. The 17-year-old’s current contract is valid until 2022 and has a release clause of €170 million. Still, Barcelona could increase that provision to €400 million when they register him with their first team. Which is expected to happen in the coming days. Barcelona also have the option of extending the player’s contract until 2024. Still, this two-year addition to their current deal currently poses some legal problems because minors cannot sign contracts for longer than three years.
Ansu Fati is still only 17 and will not turn 18 until October 31, in about seven weeks. In any case, there could be negotiations for a completely new contract that would allow the club the peace of mind from what Ansu Fati committed well after 2022, and that would be even better for Fati than the current deal. It is where Jorge Mendes comes in. As the forward signed to the powerful agent just weeks ago after being previously been managed by Lionel Messi’s brother Rodrigo Messi. Given the potential Ansu Fati, demonstrated even after the last update of his deal in December, there is an understanding that the new conditions will have to be thrashed out.
