Amadou Diawara’s agent has slammed Mourinho for banishing the midfielder from his squad and creating an “uncomfortable situation” in the club.
Amadou Diawara was among the four players ostracized by Mourinho in the wake of last week’s 6-1 defeat to Glimt in the Europa Conference League.
Mourinho blamed the loss on his fringe players saying they were inadequate and that “he only has 13 players” in his squad who are up to scratch.
Also, he said, “they have more quality than us. Their first team is a much better team than our second team. It’s my mistake. I wanted to rest players after the game against Juventus and before the game against Napoli. I made these decisions and, in the end, they are better players than my players. They are a better team than my team”.
“Of course, the 6-1 could be five, could be seven, could be eight. The game went in a direction where you lose complete control of emotions, of everything. The reality of the game is that the best team won with the best players”.
As a result, Diawara, Mayoral, Villar and Reynolds were entirely dropped from his squad for the Serie A games against Napoli on Sunday. Also, neither of the four players have been picked from Wednesday’s trip to Cagliari.
The situation has sparkled feelings from Diawara’s agent, Daniele Piraino who said, “I don’t understand the message he’s trying to get across. Is Diawara being made a scapegoat?”
“Is he being made to pay a heavy price for an error? Or is it an attempt to force the club into acting in the transfer market?”
“If it is for these reasons, rather than just poor fitness, or he feels the player is unable to understand the tactical requirements of the coach, then I think Mourinho is creating an uncomfortable situation”.
“It is inexplicable but Diawara will adapt. Amadou is an exceptional professional”.
