Jose Mourinho admits he’s more attached to Chelsea than Man Utd
Jose Mourinho has not been surprised by his former club’s recent struggles but is hopeful that brighter times are just around the corner at Old Trafford.
A little about the topic
The Portuguese manager says he’s closer to Chelsea than the Red Devils but also claims he’s not happy to be right about Man Utd’s current plight. Jose was the latest manager to supply silverware to Man Utd as he won Europa League and League Cup honors in his 2016/17 debut campaign at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho also led the club to second place in the PL the following season but was sacked after a poor start to 2018-19 and he was not surprised to see them continue to struggle in his absence.
What did Jose Mourinho say?
The Portuguese, who switched to spell at Spurs before joining Roma last summer, feels that Man Utd is still making the same mistakes behind the scenes that they did during his tenure. Jose Mourinho has also admitted to having a greater affinity for Chelsea than the Manchester club, having won three PL titles earlier in his career through two mustaches at Stamford Bridge.
Ahead of Roma’s final UEFA Conference League clash against Feyenoord, Jose Mourinho said that of course his English connection is Chelsea, that’s how he sees things as a Chelsea man after two Chelsea spells and six years. But according to Jose, the fans at Man Utd are special. There are a lot of good people in the club, so he’s not happy to be right.
Jose is not happy to be right, he would like to be wrong. The Portuguese would like to be wrong, but he knew he was right. For Mourinho, the first thing to change when things go wrong is the mentality and organization, and that didn’t come close. The Portuguese manager says he knew leaving was not an option for him. Jose Mourinho knew this, unfortunately, but he wishes them all the best and hopes they make it.
