Jose Mourinho ‘will resist the temptation to leave Roma and take over at Paris Saint-Germain’.

Jose Mourinho finished the season by leading Roma to a Europa Conference League victory. As revealed, he is in the running to succeed Mauricio Pochettino in PSG.

PSG are poised to cut ways with the Argentine in the coming days.

The side’s board of directors is looking for a new manager who they feel would offer them the best chance of eventually winning the Champions League, a title Mourinho has won with both Porto and Inter Milan.

PSG’s ideal candidate is Zinedine Zidane, and Mourinho.

However, Mourinho’s commitment to Roma is likely to disappoint them.

‘José Mourinho wants to continue his project with AS Roma despite PSG ties,’ tweeted transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

‘José has no plans to change as of today. He is focused on AS Roma. After buying Svilar and Mati, AS Roma is also willing to embrace Mourinho’s transfer strategy.’

Pochettino’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until the end of next season, and despite winning Ligue 1, it is widely acknowledged that the team has not advanced as expected under his leadership.

Mourinho has been greeted with open arms by ardent Roma supporters, who have fallen in love with the 59-year-old after he won the club’s first title in 14 years by defeating Feyenoord.

After being fired by Manchester United and Tottenham, he seemed to have rediscovered his mojo.

At a press presentation on High-Performance Football Coaching in Lisbon, the serial champion said that he had lately mellowed.

‘I became far less egocentric, becoming a person who lives for others rather than for myself,’ he added.

‘(The Conference League final) gave me a feeling I’d never had before.’ It was the Champions League for us.’
