Jude Bellingham has talked up playing alongside Kylian Mbappe ahead of the pair becoming Real Madrid teammates.
The French forward is leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract. He has yet to confirm where he will go. However, there is widespread expectation that his destination will be the Santiago Bernabeu.
It has been reported that Mbappe is due to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Spanish giants. He will earn £12.8m per season with that deal, and will also bank an eye-watering £128m signing-on bonus.
His potential future teammate Bellingham has now been asked about taking to the field alongside Mbappe. While he did not offer any insight on his arrival, the England midfielder had glowing words about the striker’s ability.
“You ask me about the position next year, I don’t pick the team and I certainly don’t make the transfers. But you know, Kylian Mbappe, what a player”. Bellingham said ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final. “Who wouldn’t want to play with someone as good as him?”
“I don’t want to kind of put any more pressure on the situation, I know for him it’s probably difficult having everyone always talking about him, but yeah it would be really nice [to play alongside him].”
Mbappe has given a few updates on his future over recent weeks. He bid farewell to PSG with an emotional message to supporters ahead of playing his final game for the club.
Speaking in a video on social media, he said: “I’ve always said that I would speak with you when the time comes and so I wanted to announce to you all that it’s my last year at Paris Saint-Germain. I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks.”
Mbappe then dropped a hint last week and suggested that an announcement over his future was coming in the immediate future. He said: “There is a time for everything.
“I’ll announce my next club in good time. We’re only a few days away so there’s no problem. Before the Euros? I don’t know, there are still a few steps.”
Mbappe could potentially face off with his future teammate Bellingham ahead of formalizing his move to Madrid. Both players are set to play at this summer’s Euros in Germany.
Mbappe will hope to play a key role for France once again after shining at the most recent World Cup. Bellingham has also been named in England’s provisional squad for the tournament.
