Jude Bellingham has become the fifth winner of the Kopa Trophy after his individual brilliance was recognised in Paris.
The Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham, has taken immediately to life in the Spanish capital with his stock firmly on the rise. His sensational start to the La Liga season has seen him carry Los Blancos with his brilliance again on show as his brace ensured Madrid won the first Clasico of the season at the weekend.
On his start at Real Madrid, Bellingham said: “It’s been really good. I’ve been welcomed by everyone at the club. I’m confident in my ability but they help me express it.”
The 20-year-old has seen off the likes of close pal Jamal Musiala, who has kept growing in stature at Bayern Munich , and Real team-mate Edouardo Camavinga to claim the individual accolade in Paris.
The Kopa Trophy winner said: “It is a great list of players [to have won this award before]. It is an honor to be in front of some of the best players in the world here and some of the best to have ever played. the game.
“To win this trophy means a lot but for me the important thing is team trophies and the important thing for me is to kick on and help Real Madrid and England win trophies for many years.”
Bellingham has flourished in recent years, finishing second to Pedri as he won the Kopa Trophy in 2021. The Englishman opted to call time on his spell with Borussia Dortmund in the summer as the Germans narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title.
The former Birmingham City star produced his best season in front of goal last term but is already set to beat that in Spain as his game continues to develop. Bellingham’s talents have seen him become an integral figure for England.
Already hailed as a generational talent, Bellingham has now added his name to a short, but star-studded, roll of honour. The Kopa Trophy was only created in 2018 and has been won by Kylian Mbappe, Matthijs de Ligt, Pedri and Gavi.
The Madrid star is being tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner as he thrives on the platform provided to him by the Spanish giants. His exploits in the Champions League have only served to further highlight his ability.
