French coach Christophe Galtier would not have been allowed to run a team in Europe if the reasons for his exit from Nice were made public, says the former director.
What did Fournier say about Christophe Galtier?
The PSG manager joined Nice after winning Ligue 1 with Lille but only lasted one year in charge before being hired by the French champions. Julien Fournier, who was director of football at Nice at the time, says the 56-year-old French coach’s departure was due to disagreements between the two, but insists the reasons were not all football related.
Julien Fournier, now based in Parma, told After Foot that it’s common knowledge that the relationship he’s had with Christophe Galtier has been pretty chaotic since the start of the season. According to Julien, to be honest, if he explained the real reasons why they were arguing, Christophe would no longer be allowed into the dressing room, neither in France nor in Europe.
But it wasn’t about football. Fournier says that these are much more serious things from his point of view. It was indirectly related to football. This is something that profoundly affects Julien. They were in very remote positions. So they ended the season and they, Christophe Galtier and Julien Fournier, were as professional as possible to limit the negative impact it could have on the team. Then there was a breakup.
Julien declined to elaborate on the matter and his comments infuriated Christophe, who hit back at a press conference the next day, saying he was not surprised by the way he put it. Julien doesn’t want to get tired of discussing everything that has been said. They then automatically create debates one by one. According to Julien Fournier, as far as form is concerned, he is not surprised, knowing the character. That’s all Julien has to say.
