Virgil Van Dijk

Klopp addressed 30-year-old Van Dijk’s scary moment with the Netherlands during the international hiatus, giving an update on the suitability of Firmino and Elliott.

A little about the topic

Virgil van Dijk jumped into Jurgen Klopp’s plans early in the season after missing the majority of Liverpool’s 2020-21 campaign through injury, starting with victories over Norwich and Burnley, and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. There were concerns that he might miss the next Premier League clash with Leeds United on Sunday after an embarrassing clash in the last World Cup qualifier in the Netherlands, but Jurgen Klopp has now confirmed that the defender has assured him that he has not sustained long-term injury.

What did Klopp say about Virgil van Dijk?

Virgil van Dijk played the issue after his country’s 6-1 win against Turkey on Tuesday, telling reporters that he was fine, thankfully. Virgil has already finished. Maybe because he is so big, they think Virgil is behaving, because when he goes down it is rather slow. Jurgen Klopp revealed details of a conversation he had with the 30-year-old in the wake of the incident when he was questioned by Liverpool’s official website about the status of its returning international stars.

Klopp said that Minamino has been here for a while, he was injured, apparently along with Japan. With Virgil van Dijk, it was obviously a scary moment, you can imagine. Klopp sent him a message after the game if he was ok, the answer was Yes 200 percent. According to Jurgen Klopp Virgil van Dijk called him from the bus and said he was fine. Jurgen Klopp asked why he was limping and Virgil van Dijk said his wife asked the same thing! Jurgen Klopp went on to confirm that Elliott shook off a knock that saw him pull out of England’s U21 squad but failed to deliver good news about Firmino, who had a hamstring problem against Chelsea.
