As injury issues persist, reports indicate that Juventus is contemplating either selling or releasing Paul Pogba after the conclusion of the current season.
Since his free move to Juventus from Manchester United in the summer of 2018, Pogba, who is now 29 years old, has not appeared in a game for the Italian giants. During the preseason, the center midfielder sustained a knee injury, and he was unable to recuperate in time to play in the most recent World Cup, which was held in Qatar.
On the previous Sunday, Juventus suffered an unexpected defeat at home to Monza by a score of 2-0; however, Pogba did not play in the game. Since then, it has been established by the manager Massimiliano Allegri that the player has sustained an additional injury, and it is still unknown when he will ultimately make his second appearance.
Juventus are losing patience with Pogba and may decide to split ways with him in the summer if he does not return to their starting XI in the near future. The possibility of an early move to a club in Major League Soccer (MLS) has been brought up.
It is difficult to see a player of Pogba’s standing walking away from European football in the summer, given that he is only 29 years old. The player who won the World Cup is still involved in international competition, and his career with France could be jeopardized if he moves to the United States. He currently holds 91 victories in his senior career.
It is reported that the actions Pogba takes on his Instagram account infuriate Juventus supporters. He shared a video of himself dancing in November, along by the message “Best way to test your knee.” The following month, he shared photographs from a skiing excursion on his website (although it is believed he did not ski).
In addition to this, it is asserted that Pogba initially declined to have surgery on his knee injury in order to improve his chances of participating in the World Cup. It was not until September that he decided to go under the knife, when it became clear that the complaint could not be remedied without surgical intervention. According to reports, Juventus is “furious” at the choice to forego the operation during the previous summer.
Pogba’s re-signing with Juventus as a player last summer was very exciting for the club. During his first stint with them, the Frenchman appeared in 178 games and won eight trophies and awards, including four Serie A crowns and the renowned Golden Boy award. During this time, the team won four league championships.
In addition, Pogba was awarded the Young Player of the Tournament trophy at the 2014 World Cup. He also assisted Juventus in reaching the final of the Champions League in 2015, when they were defeated by Barcelona by a score of 3-1. In August of 2016, he was re-signed by Manchester United for a transfer fee that set a global record of £89 million.
During his second stint at Old Trafford, Pogba did not live up to the expectations that were placed on him. During the subsequent six years, he was only successful in acquiring two trophies, none of which was the Premier League championship nor the Champions League. As a result, he was granted a free transfer from the club this past summer.
It is believed that Juventus is currently debating what course of action to pursue. According to reports, his four-year deal is worth a total of £31 million, and the Serie A club has the potential to save some money by cancelling it earlier than expected. Given Juventus’s current financial situation, this may be a relevant consideration.
