Angel Di Maria gets red carded as Christian Gytkjaer seals a stunning victory for the hosts, Monza, leaving Max Allegri’s side six points off the pace.

On Sunday, Monza earned their first Serie A victory of the season with a 1-0 home triumph over Juventus. The visitors struggled after being relegated to 10 men.

Angel Di Maria’s return from injury was cut short as he was sent off five minutes before halftime for elbowing Armando Izzo in the chest.

In the first half, Juventus got half-chances but struggled to generate momentum due to Monza’s effective midfield disruption.

In the second half, newly-promoted Monza put pressure on the opposing defense to force errors, while Massimiliano Allegri’s squad looked for counterattack opportunities.

In the 74th minute, substitute Christian Gytkjaer scored the game-winning goal from Patrick Ciurria’s pass.

Allegri was not permitted to sit on the bench after he was ejected from Sunday’s 2-2 home draw against Salernitana for protesting a disallowed VAR goal.

After the international break, Monza will travel to Sampdoria on October 2, while Juventus will host Bologna on the same day.
