“A title with Chelsea is worth more,” Kai Havertz explained in an interview.

Chelsea are a club with a vision

Chelsea FC made perhaps their biggest summer signing when they announced the arrival of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. Still, when arguing about Real Madrid’s declared interest, Kai made it clear that winning the title with the Blues would be worth more. Bayer Leverkusen has a long history of producing players. Still, in terms of natural ability, it can be argued that Havertz goes straight to the top of the list, hence why Los Blancos looked a lot at the Germany international before he arrived at Stamford Bridge. “A title with Chelsea is worth more,” Havertz explained in an interview. “It was important for me to choose a club with a vision. We are a young team with many great players who are ambitious; we want to build something here and attack, that’s a great motivation for me.”

Chelsea supporters will remember the saga of Havertz’s actual signing and how long it took. Still, the player himself was not surprised by the outcome as Bayer Leverkusen wanted to ensure they received what they considered a fair fee. “A transfer like mine doesn’t happen overnight,” he added. “I had to think about all the options and what was important to me. I have watched the Premier League a lot on TV and know Chelsea very well. So far, the 21-year-old has started well in England, scoring four goals and three assists in 10 games. Although he is still expected to improve on that return, chiefly if Frank Lampard’s squad can secure a spot in the top four this term.

A positive COVID-19 check has kept Kai Havertz from his last two games with the London club, although he is expected to be back on track for the upcoming away trip to face Newcastle United on 21 November.
