In the 50th match of IPL (IPL 2022), Delhi Capitals registered a crucial 21-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (DC vs SRH). The heroes of the match were David Warner and Rovman Powell. The losing captain Kane Williamson has to make some cruical changes in the pattern otherwise team is perfectly balanced.

Warner played an important innings of 92 runs as an opener. After this, Powell scored 67 runs in 35 balls to take Delhi’s score to 207/3. After the match, Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson admitted that his team was under pressure in a unit round. Had a little more effort been made, this score could have been made.

Chasing the target of 08 runs for Hyderabad, Nicholas Pooran scored 62 off 34 balls and Aiden Markram scored 42 runs in 25 balls. However, due to not getting much support from other batsmen, Sunrisers could only manage 186 runs for eight wickets.

Kane Williamson said after the match, Delhi batted well. The field was small and there was dew too. Had we had wickets left, the situation would have been different. We gave them a chance to build pressure. There was pressure on us as a team and they couldn’t anticipate it.

There are still a few matches left and Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to put in extra effort both in bowling and batting. Big partnerships have to be forged throughout the innings to be at top of the game.

With this win, Delhi Capitals has moved up from the seventh position to the fifth position in the points table. At the same time, Sunrisers Hyderabad has slipped from fifth to sixth place. Although both the teams still have 10 points with five wins from 10 matches.

Kane Williamson said in post match interview, “I mean they had a fantastic total. As a batting unit we had a lot of belief. You know for us it is just going back to the drawing board. Outstanding knock from David Warner and later by Powell. Fantastic learning opportunities for everyone. Umran has been a fantastic find. You learn from the best when you come up against them. Things can change quickly if we put things together. They have had rhythm batting in the middle order. Those two (Pooran and Markam) have been good. Just trying to play a role for the team. Staying patient. Every team is strong. Trying to contribute to the team’s cause.”

Chasing 200 and losing 2 wickets in powerplay, the match is halfway lost. Credit to Pooran for showing his dedication despite continuous fall of wickets. Kane Williamson needs to a be link in the team. Even though if he wants to play anchor role, he has to make sure that he doesn’t go too slow which mostly makes the other batsman lose his wickets.
