Leroy must show more desire
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge warned that Leroy Sane should show more desire and says Bayern Munich will be ready to ‘kick his butt’ if necessary to get the best out of their big-money signing. Sane was criticized by the great Lothar Matthaus ahead of the game, and Bayern coach Hansi Flick also said the 24-year-old has more to offer to force his way into the squad.

The Bundesliga champions’ CEO Rummenigge says Sane must step up his game and work harder to be successful at the club, which showed on Sunday that Coman’s hamstring injury is not severe. He told reporters: “Leroy was not happy to be taken off, it is clear and understandable. God gave him incredible talents. I only believe in one thing: he has not yet reached this FC Bayern gene. Like Thomas Müller, he was my hero yesterday. He walked up and down, but not as protected by talent as Leroy. He has to work on it, and this is his job. “We did our best to make him come to Bayern. We cheer up every player, but we also challenge him. He has to learn that and the squad supports him.
“Leroy has to take the next step and has to adapt his character to Bayern Munich. This character is: you forgive everything, but you have to give the impression that you are throwing everything into balance to leave the field as a winner. He will have to learn how to do that”. Rummenigge added: “I think he can have a great future at FC Bayern. We are ready to help him, to cheer him up. But he must also challenge himself to get where he can be. We’ll kick his ass if necessary to get him there. Sane has lost possession nine times in his short time on the pitch, making 15 of his 19 passes and conceding two more fouls than any other Bayern player.
Robert Lewandowski’s last goal, his second in the game, brought the Leverkusen team to their 1st defeat of the campaign to ensure Bayern will end 2020 with two clear points at the top of the table.
